WASHINGTON, D.C. – The RATE Coalition, whose members and affiliates employ more than 55 million American workers in all 50 states, released the following statement following President Donald Trump’s meeting with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID), Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett on tax reform:
“We are encouraged by President Trump’s and Congressional leaders’ commitment to continue progress toward protecting America’s competitive tax rate.”
“Our member companies’ experiences demonstrate that taking America from the highest business tax rate in the world to a more competitive 21% business tax rate is providing the certainty needed to continue creating jobs, growing investment, and creating prosperity here in the United States.”
“As the conversations continue, we urge President Trump and Congressional Leadership to prioritize policies that maintain and build on the success of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. A strong, stable tax environment is essential for long-term economic growth, and we stand ready to work with the Administration and Congress to protect the pro-growth tax framework that has strengthened America’s economy.”
