WASHINGTON, D.C. — The RATE Coalition today released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ June 2019 jobs report:
“With thousands of jobs being created each month, the workers who long stood on the sidelines are now finding jobs and opportunities across the nation. This latest jobs report again illustrates the positive impact tax cuts have on American families — lower unemployment, increased investment, and higher paychecks. America’s job market is a pro-worker market, and pro-growth policies are providing the momentum to keep the trend going.”
Highlights from the June 2019 jobs report:
- The U.S. economy added 224,000 jobs in June.
- Unemployment rose slightly to 3.7 percent, establishing a 16-month streak where the unemployment rate was at or below 4 percent.
- Wages rose 3.1 percent over the past 12 months.
