WASHINGTON, D.C. — The RATE Coalition today released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ April 2019 jobs report:
“In the last week the U.S. economy beat expectations on GDP growth, saw worker productivity levels soar, and pegged another month of stronger-than-expected job creation. More Americans are finding the good-paying jobs they’ve sought for so long as the economy continues to gain strength and businesses invest in their workers. Tax cuts are delivering for American families and workers.”
Highlights from the April 2019 jobs report:
- The U.S. economy added 263,000 jobs in April.
- Unemployment fell to 3.6 percent, the lowest level in 50 years and establishing a 14-month streak where the unemployment rate was at or below 4 percent.
